Creative Ways to add colour to your rental
It's a common misconception that when renting a property in Cyprus, you’re confined to the standard bland furniture and dreary coloured walls, leaving your place looking more like a prison cell than a home. However there are several ways in which you can get creative without having to run it past your landlord, or spend a small fortune on paint. In fact you can create your own colourful haven spending only a few euros, and soon enough you will have your friends wanting to spend more time at your new property rental in Cyprus, than down your local tavern. Take a look at our small guide below on how you can spice up your space.

Never mind how expensive paint can be, especially if you’ve been fortunate enough to find a place that has a decent square footage. The majority of landlords won't allow you to change the colour of the walls, and prefer for you to leave the neutral non offensive (and down right boring) pale whites and creams for you to wake up to every morning. If you’re unsure, why not ask your QuickLets Property Agent to help you find out during the renting negotiations with your landlord.
But getting creative, you can find an assortment of your favourite photos or prints and have these blown up to the size you desire to fit any space. We find that it's always nice to look for local artists as well and feature their work, which is often a reflection of the traditional scenes and landscapes, helping you bring a little of the outside into your home.
And if you’ve got narrow corridors or small spaces, think of hanging mirrors to open up the area, especially if facing windows as this will not only make the area appear larger, but also help to reflect light and brighten the room.
If your landlord is extra picky and doesn’t want you to put any nails into their plasterboard or walls, you can also look at alternatives, such as hanging strips that leave no marks or residue when you remove them.
Furniture freedom

Most landlords choose to fit out their apartments for rent in Cyrpus with standard, functional furniture like the stuff you find at IKEA. Whilst this is generally durable, and owing to its cheap cost is easy to replace, it can be, well…unimaginative.
When looking to add a bit of colour to your crib, it pays to take a look at second hand shops and online market places to hunt for furniture pieces that are a bit more expressive and all at a fraction of the cost. The fun really starts if you consider yourself a bit of a hands-on person and creative, as you can seek out items that have lost the love of their original owners. Throw in a bit of sandpaper and splatters of paint, and boom, you've just upcycled your very own feature piece, destined for a spot in the sun in the corner of your living room, where you can lazily turn the pages of your favourite book.
Tasty textiles

Who doesn’t love the texture of a nice rug under bare feet? Or the look of tastefully chosen cushions and pillows haphazardly thrown over a couch? This is perhaps one of the easiest ways to really add a splash of colour to your Cyprus property rental.
Local markets and stalls offer inspiration by the cart load as you feel your way through traditional prints and colourful craft work. And if you’re handy with a needle and thread, you can always approach local textile manufacturers and ask for any off cuts that you can stitch together to make a bold and one of a kind throw or table cloth to really make a space come alive.
But first you need to find a space to get creative with, and here at Quicklets Cyprus, we have literally hundreds of rental properties available to help you find your next home. Why not have a glance through our website or contact us, either online or at our offices and you’ll be colouring your space in no time.
